Ross has been involved with horses from a very young age as a result of family connections with The Wyke Equestrian Centre in Shifnal. With his pony Casper, he participated in all disciplines with his main focus on cross country courses.
Ross commenced his 12 month Pre Farrier course in 1999, aged 16, when he enrolled at Hereford College. He then went on to complete his apprenticeship under the watchful eye of Kelvin Lymer at Sandpitt Forge in Worcester. After completing four years of training, Ross emerged with his Worshipful Company of Farriers Diploma and a wealth of enthusiasm for what lay ahead.
From there, he returned to Shifnal, Shropshire and started his own business. Many of Ross' customers will recall the old AA white van from which the business made its humble beginnings. Ross prides himself on the attention to detail and listening to the various requirements of the customer and their equine companion, whichever part of the equine world they come from. Be it an eventer, show jumper or a pleasure riding horse or pony - Ross can cater for them all.
Ross has now made a small relocation to Broseley, Shropshire, and has a solid customer base across Shropshire and the West Midlands. He covers Telford, Newport, Shrewsbury, Market Drayton, Wem, Bridgnorth, Wolverhampton, Bewdley, Kidderminster and anywhere in between!
He has always performed remedial and corrective shoeing and is comfortable working alongside local equine veterinary surgeons, should the need arise. Hand made shoes are easily made and fitted on site whenever they are required.
Ross is keen to keep abreast of modern advances in the farriery world, and as such attends as many seminars as possible to maintain a suitable level of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
